SLO firefighters battle garage complex blaze blocks from station

San Luis Obispo city firefighters responded Wednesday to a call of smoke from a garage complex.

Reports of smoke came in before noon Wednesday for a building on Lawrence Drive about six blocks down Broad Street from the main fire station.

The fire was in the end of a four-unit commercial building fronted by garage doors and facing Lawrence Drive.

Firefighters cut through the door to reach the smoldering fire, which was sending smoke out of two sides of the building.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the cause is being investigated.
