Police release name of 29-year-old woman found dead on SLO sidewalk

Police have identified the woman found dead on a San Luis Obispo sidewalk Saturday as a 29-year-old resident of the city who was being treated for “several ongoing medical issues” at the time of her death.

The San Luis Obispo Police Department says the body of Nicole Cordone was discovered lying on the sidewalk in the 4400 block of Poinsettia Street near Lily Lane at about 6:10 a.m. Saturday.

The department announced Tuesday evening that an autopsy was completed by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office Tuesday.

Police say Cordone had no signs of trauma and, at this time, foul play is not suspected.

The official cause of death will be pending toxicology results, and a detailed report from the San Luis Obispo County medical examiner, which could take several weeks.

A news release Tuesday states that “during the investigation, it was discovered that Cordone was being treated for several ongoing medical issues.”

Cordone is the second person found dead within city limits in three weeks.

Another body, later identified as 60-year-old Norman Bispo, was discovered Dec. 29 in Prefumo Creek in San Luis Obispo. Foul play is not suspected in Bispo’s death.
