13-year-old dies after being pinned under golf cart near Avila Beach
Update, 8:50 p.m.: The boy killed has been identified as 13-year-old Jared Aichouri, of Templeton.
On Monday night, hundreds gathered in Templeton Park to remember a boy they described as “never having a bad day.”
“I just want you to know this is just an accident — we can’t explain it,” his mother, Teresa Hamers, told the amassed crowd during the vigil. “But one thing you can take away from tonight is Jared’s love and his light.”

A 13-year-old boy was killed and another teenager injured in a crash involving a golf cart near Avila Beach on Sunday.
According to CHP, the crash occurred around 2:40 p.m. on Silver Oak Lane east of Lupine Canyon Road.
A golf cart being driven by a 16-year-old boy overturned after it drove onto a curb and an embankment, according to a CHP news release.
A 13-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and was pinned under the golf cart, the CHP said.
The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, had minor injuries from the crash and was transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.
The 13-year-old was also transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center where he died of his injuries, according to the CHP.
The names of those involved are not being released, the agency said.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be contributing factors in the crash, the CHP said.
The CHP is investigating the incident, and asks anyone with information on the collision to call 805-594-8700.
