15th SLO County resident dies due to COVID-19

San Luis Obispo County reported a 15th coronavirus-related death Friday afternoon.

The latest death was the sixth local person to die of COVID-19 since Monday.

Two deaths reported Thursday involved people in their 80s who had underlying health conditions, according to a county news release.

One of the deaths was that of a hospitalized resident who lived at Vineyard Hills Health Center, a skilled nursing facility in Templeton that is experiencing a coronavirus outbreak. The other person lived at an assisted living facility in Atascadero.

Two Vineyard Hills residents in their 80s with underlying health conditions died Tuesday, and another death related to the Templeton nursing home outbreak was announced Wednesday afternoon.

Details on the latest resident who died have not been released as of 1:40 p.m. Friday.

As of Friday, 1,783 San Luis Obispo County residents have tested positive for coronavirus, with 399 active cases.
