Coronavirus updates: 2 congregate living facility residents die, SLO County adds 30 COVID-19 cases
San Luis Obispo County added 30 new cases of coronavirus Thursday, bringing the total number of people who have locally tested positive for COVID-19 to 1,740 since mid-March.
On Thursday, the county also reported two additional coronavirus-related deaths tied to congregate living facilities.
And in Santa Barbara County added 73 new coronavirus cases.

2 more SLO County residents die due to COVID-19
Two more San Luis Obispo County residents have died due to coronavirus, according to ReadySLO.org.
Both individuals were in their 80s and had underlying health conditions, according to a county news release.
One resident lived at an assisted living facility in Atascadero. The name of the North County facility was not named.
The second death was a hospitalized resident who lived at the Vineyard Hills Health Center, a skilled nursing facility in Templeton that is experiencing a coronavirus outbreak.
As of Thursday, 14 county residents have died due to COVID-19. Six of those have died in the past seven days.
SLO County adds 30 new COVID-19 cases Thursday
San Luis Obispo County added 30 new cases of coronavirus Thursday, bringing the total number of people who have locally tested positive for COVID-19 since March to 1,740, according to ReadySLO.org.
As of Thursday, there were a total of 378 local active COVID-19 cases.
In the North County, Atascadero added five coronavirus cases and Templeton added two. Shandon added one. Paso Robles added 14 cases Thursday.
In the South County, Grover Beach and Oceano added one case each. Pismo Beach deducted one case for its count.
In the North Coast area, Los Osos added one COVID-19 case.
San Luis Obispo city added two cases.
Three new COVID-19 cases were still under investigation
Santa Barbara County’s hospitalizations rise as 73 COVID-19 cases added
The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department on Thursday reported 73 new cases of COVID-19, Noozhawk reported.
There were 89 patients being treated in local hospitals, including 29 of them in intensive care units.
There have been 6,094 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county, according to the status report.
Of the new cases, 33 were in Santa Maria
COVID-19 cases at Cal Poly triple since June
Cal Poly now has 18 confirmed cases of coronavirus among students, staff and faculty, according to Cal Poly’s website. Of those patients, 11 are currently located in San Luis Obispo County.
The university is releasing little information about these cases due to privacy reasons, Cynthia Lambert, a communications specialist at Cal Poly, wrote in an email.
Cal Poly has not specified how many students have gotten the virus, or how many faculty or staff members, Lambert wrote.
