The last Bed Bath & Beyond store in San Luis Obispo County is set to close its doors in the coming weeks.

On Friday, employees began hanging signs announcing the closure of the location in the SLO Promenade shopping center off Madonna Road.

When reached for comment, a manager on duty on Monday confirmed the impending closure but said she was unaware of the timeline for when the store will actually shut its doors for good.

The San Luis Obispo store was the last remaining Bed Bath & Beyond in San Luis Obispo County. The Paso Robles location closed in late 2020.

On Jan. 30, Reuters reported that the national retail chain was preparing to file for bankruptcy protections, as well as planning to close more than 230 of its stores.

The San Luis Obispo location did not appear on the published lists of stores that are slated for closures due to the company’s current financial situation.
