New store opens in Paso Robles in old Orchard Supply Hardware space

Paso Robles shoppers finally have a replacement for the Orchard Supply Hardware store that closed about two years ago.

Outdoor Supply Hardware opened in the Theatre Drive space on Sept. 30, according to Charlotte Wells, a spokeswoman for the chain. The new store currently employs 45 staff members, Wells said.

The Paso Robles store is one of multiple new Outdoor Supply Hardware locations in California, all of which moved into old Orchard Supply Hardware spots.

Lowe’s, Orchard Supply Hardware’s parent company, announced in August 2018 it would close all 99 of its stores in California, Oregon and Florida. The chain shuttered two locations in San Luis Obispo County — one in Paso Robles and one in Pismo Beach.

Central Network Retail Group (CNRG) announced in a May 2019 news release that it had created the Outdoor Supply Hardware brand to open in seven vacant Orchard Supply Hardware locations in California. The release did not indicate where the new stores would open.

“While CNRG will bring its own merchandising assortment to the stores, this new brand will also strive to honor the long-standing appeal of Orchard Supply to local consumers and business shoppers by offering many of the same products and services for which the locations were well known and loved,” the release said.

An Outdoor Supply Hardware location also recently opened on South Broadway in Santa Maria, according to the chain’s Facebook page.

“These stores have meant so much to these communities over the years and we are excited to be able to bring them back to life,” CNRG president John Sieggreen said in the 2019 release. “These are fantastic locations in highly trafficked shopping centers and we look forward to getting them staffed and merchandised in the next few months so we can be open sometime this fall.”
