Noi’s Little Thai Takeout is reopening in Baywood – but with a twist
Noi’s Little Thai Takeout, a longtime fixture in funky Baywood, will reopen April 8 after being shut down since 2019, say the owners, Ron and Noi Miner.
“But just for breakfast,” said Ron Miner, who added that the couple have maintained the lease for 17 years on the corner property at Santa Maria and 2nd streets.
“There’s no way we can move — we are a historical landmark,” he said, only half joking.
A few years ago, with Noi ailing and fighting cancer, Ron Miner said the family’s lunch and dinner recipes moved a block away to what they call Noi’s and Doi’s 2nd Street Cafe, overseen by Noi’s sister Doi.
“It didn’t make sense to keep both places open serving the same food,” he said. Business at the 2nd Street Cafe is good.
“Now that Noi has been healthy for several years,” Miner said it is time to reopen the original place but with a twist — serving only breakfast “Thai fusion-style.”
Miner called the spot “our Thai food truck without wheels” and said it will have two service windows and plenty of outdoor seating as well as a garden patio and decorated dining room next door. The kitchen has been expanded now that all food goes through the service window.
“We’ll have burrito dishes, egg dishes including omelets, and Thai waffles,” among the offerings, he said, adding that the plastic ware will be gone and food will be served on ”real plates” probably by a member of the extended family.
Noi’s will be open five days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday through Monday.
Baywood will soon see other new restaurants open up as well, including Beerwood right next door on the corner of Santa Maria and 2nd streets in the next few days. Also, High Street Deli is close to opening nearby.
