Donald Trump’s election might have been divisive, but now it’s time to come together
I am extremely disheartened by the inflammatory comments and demonstrations that have occurred since the presidential election. I guess these protesters don’t understand the word “democracy.” It was my understanding that you were given an opportunity to express your political views through the electoral process. You may not agree with the election results, but a decision was reached fairly by the voters of this country.
There have been many elections since I’ve lived in California that I have disagreed with, but I’ve always respected the decision and expressed my dissatisfaction by working harder for my chosen candidates. It is beyond me that the minority voters in this election cannot do the same. I would like to remind these vocal objectors that both blacks and Hispanics and some women too (not just rich white males) voted for Mr. Trump. They are not traitors to their race or gender, but apparently are able to see some validity in Mr. Trump’s agenda.
What has happened to civility in this country? Why can’t people agree to disagree without trashing the other side? Why can’t we respect election results? Now is the time to come together to make our nation one under God and move on.
