Beginning with Thursday’s rain, as much as 3 inches of precipitation could accumulate along the coastline by next week, said PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey, already washing out some holiday festivities.

Rain forced the cancellation of Thursday’s Downtown SLO Farmers Market, including the Downtown Association’s Snow Night event, which has been rescheduled for Dec. 15.

Periods of light to gentle rain from the current system will continue through Friday night, Lindsey said, with totals ranging from 0.5 to 1 inch.

Parts of the North Coast and the hills near Cambria could get more than 1 inch, according to the National Weather Service.

Looking ahead, models are showing a longer-term wet weather pattern forming along the Central Coast with more chance for rain next week.
