Investigators say computers and other digital devices seized last month from the home of a Paso Robles man suspected of molesting at least nine young girls contained thousands of images and videos of child pornography, some of which were allegedly created by him.
Jason Robert Porter, 44, was arrested in South Pasadena on Friday following an investigation stemming from a June 23 arrest in which Porter was allegedly caught taking lewd photographs of a young girl.
On Monday, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office had yet to file formal charges against Porter, according to court records, and it was not clear whether he had an attorney.
Porter remained in custody at San Luis Obispo County Jail, booked on suspicion of 23 charges, including seven counts of committing a lewd act on a child, five counts of sexual acts with a child under 10 years old, nine counts of secretly recording victims, possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a child.

He is being held in lieu of $7 million bail.
Porter’s latest arrest comes less than three weeks after he was arrested June 23 in Paso Robles. According to a Police Department news release, officers responded to the 1000 block of Vista Grande about 10:55 p.m. for a disturbance outside a house. They learned that Porter, who was visiting the house, was allegedly caught by a woman there taking lewd photographs of her juvenile daughter. After protecting her daughter, the woman alerted others in the home, which led to an altercation outside, according to police.
Police say their investigation revealed Porter had committed lewd acts with the same child previously. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography and committing a lewd act with a child under 14 years of age, but he was released after posting an unknown amount of bail.
Following that arrest, detectives searched Porter’s home on the 800 block of Vista Grande and seized computers, cameras and storage devices that were processed for evidence at the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab. Thousands of images and videos were found, including some allegedly created by Porter that show him sexually molesting at least nine different girls, according to a statement by the Police Department on Monday.
After the discovery, an arrest warrant was filed and officers from the South Pasadena Police Department arrested Porter without incident on the 1100 block of El Centro in that city. He was temporarily held at the Alhambra City Jail before being transported back to San Luis Obispo County.
Police say they have identified and contacted the families of the nine children but ask that anyone with information about additional victims contact the Paso Robles Police Department at 805-237-6464 or Crime Stoppers at 805-549-STOP.
