A team of Cal Poly engineering students took first place in the recent 2016 American Society of Mechanical Engineers Student Design Competition finals at the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition in Phoenix, Arizona.
According to the ASME website, students from around the world were asked to design and build prototypes of a battery-powered, compact manufacturing system that could fire paper projectiles through the air.
Cal Poly’s team won the contest, receiving a prize of $3,000 for the team and an additional $1,000 for the university’s ASME students.
The winning team members included: Kota Ozawa, Nelson Lin, Max Weinstein and Kevin Marshall. Professor Tom Mackin is the faculty adviser for the team.
