Good News about Elizabeth Marriott, Sydney Barker and Hillary Mason
Paso Robles
Two local eighth-grade students, Elizabeth Marriott and Sydney Barker, recently gave presentations to the Paso Robles branch of American Association of University Women about their experiences at Tech Trek, a weeklong science and math camp sponsored by AAUW for girls entering eighth grade.
Elizabeth is a student at Cappy Culver Elementary School in San Miguel, and Sydney attends Santa Lucia School in Templeton. They both earned $900 scholarships from the Paso Robles branch of AAUW to attend the camp held in July at UCSB.
This year’s scholarships were primarily funded by a $1,700 donation from IQMS, a Paso Robles-based software company.
San Luis Obispo
Hillary Mason, a 2008 graduate of San Luis Obispo High School, recently celebrated her one-year anniversary as an executive recruiter at Twitter. Mason also graduated from Cuesta College and then Cal Poly in 2013 with a degree in communications.
She worked at MindBody before becoming a recruiter at Google for two years.
