Semitruck loaded with grapes overturns in SLO
A semi truck loaded with grapes overturned Tuesday morning in San Luis Obispo, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened in the area of Vachell Lane and Buckley Road about 10:40 a.m., according to the CHP incident log. It appeared that the truck, which was driving on Vachell Lane toward Buckley Road, failed to negotiate a curve in the road, causing the tractor and the first trailer to overturn and dump its load of grapes across the road. The second trailer remained upright.
The driver was taken from the scene in an ambulance and complained of pain in his neck, said CHP Officer Jordan Richards.
The road will be closed until officials can clear the grapes off the road and tow the truck, officials at the scene said. By about 1:30 p.m., it appeared the road had reopened, according to the CHP.
Vachell Lane is closed near Higuera Street, and Buckley Road is closed near the scene of the crash.
