Man killed in Creston Road crash identified
The 28-year-old Shandon man who was killed in a single-car crash on Creston Road near Highway 41 on Sunday afternoon has been identified as Artemio V. Pacheco, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Just before 4:50 p.m., 31-year-old Eusebio Ruizluis of Shandon was driving northbound on Creston Road north of Highway 41 in a 2000 Ford Expedition, the CHP said.
Ruizluis, who was allegedly intoxicated, the CHP said, made an “unsafe turning movement” toward the east shoulder of Creston Road, causing him to lose control of his vehicle. The Expedition then rolled over multiple times and came to rest on its wheels on the east shoulder of Creston Road.
Pacheco, the right-front passenger in the vehicle, was killed as a result of the crash.
Ruizluis was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, felony vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and driving with a blood alcohol content of .10 percent or more causing bodily injury, according to jail records.
He is being held at the San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
