Second car fire briefly closes Hwy. 41 between Morro Bay and Atascadero

The CHP is reporting that Highway 41 is back open as of 10:30 a.m.

Highway 41 is closed in the 2500 block between Morro Bay and Atascadero as firefighters respond to a second vehicle fire Saturday morning.

The fire was reported at 9:42 a.m., and by 9:50 a.m. the vehicle was parked under a tree and fully engulfed in flames as people with shovels used dirt to try to keep the fire from spreading into the vegetation.

Meanwhile, crews were also responding to a car fire and a 15-acre grass fire along Highway 101 on the Cuesta Grade.
