Emergency crews rescued five people who became trapped after the scaffolding they had been working on collapsed outside a Pismo Beach residence Tuesday morning.

Cal Fire officials responded to the scene about 11:30 a.m. and discovered five construction workers trapped near 253 Harloe Ave.

One person was in critical condition and four others had minor injuries, a Cal Fire spokesman said about 3:30 p.m.

All five were taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment.
