Hundreds in SLO protest Trump’s election

More than 200 protesters carried signs and chanted in the streets of downtown San Luis Obispo on Thursday night in response to the election of Donald Trump.

The protesters chanted, “Not my president!” and marched with signs reading, “Hate, bigotry, misogyny: Not my values,” “Do not give up hope” and other messages.

As of 8:22 p.m., the San Luis Obispo Police Department reported no calls for service or problems related to the protestors.

Trump, the Republican candidate, was elected president early Wednesday morning following a contentious campaign against Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Protests have broken out in cities across the U.S., including Los Angeles, Oakland and San Francisco, and on college campuses at Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara.
