Officials identified the drivers and passengers who were involved in the three-vehicle crash near Cuesta College that killed one and injured three Wednesday.

The crash occurred about 2:25 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 1 and Hollister Avenue, according to a CHP news release.

Two vehicles — a 2002 Ford F-150 driven by Joanna Brooke of Los Osos and a 2016 Chevy Cruz driven by Deroche Elie of Biscarrosse, France — were stopped at a red light in the No. 2 lane on the southbound side of Highway 1.

Conrad Evangelest of Nipomo, who was driving a 2014 Isuzu box truck south in the same lane, failed to notice the stopped traffic in front of him and crashed into Elie’s vehicle, according to a news release. The impact pushed Elie’s vehicle into Brooke’s, and then into the No. 1 lane.

Evangelest’s truck then crashed into Brooke’s vehicle, pushing it through the intersection and off the southwest edge of the road.

Elie’s passenger, Bernadette Ettcheverry, also of Biscarrosse, France, sustained fatal blunt force trauma head injuries during the crash. Elie sustained a minor laceration to the back of his head.

Brooke sustained minor neck and leg injuries, and Evangelest received hand and shin abrasions.

The crash remains under investigation.
