At least one person was killed and three others were injured Wednesday afternoon in a collision involving three vehicles on Highway 1 near Cuesta College, according to Cal Fire.

CHP and Cal Fire emergency responders dispatched units about 2:30 p.m. to the intersection of Highway 1 and Education Drive, according to the CHP.

Three other patients were involved in the collision, according to Cal Fire. One person suffered moderate injuries; two others had minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.

Caltrans closed the southbound lanes of Highway 1 near the scene of the collision. Drivers were directed to take Hollister Road to Colusa Avenue to Foothill Boulevard.

The two southbound lanes were closed for more than two hours. The CHP reported they were reopened about 5 p.m.
