Former Paso Robles High football star signs with NFL team
A former Paso Robles High School football star has signed a contract with an NFL team.
Bailey Gaither, a 6-foot, 180-pound wide receiver who was a standout at San Jose State, was signed to the 90-man roster of the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced on its website July 27.
Gaither graduated from Paso Robles High in 2015, earning The Tribune’s Player of the Year as a senior.
He caught 135 passes for 2,227 yards with 18 touchdowns during his college career at San Jose State.
Gaither played with the United States Football League’s Pittsburgh Maulers in 2022, catching 24 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns.
Gaither went undrafted in 2021, but was signed to a spot in the Green Bay Packers’ preseason training camp. Gaither announced he was retiring before the end of camp, but the retirement was short-lived and he decided to make a return to football months later.
By signing with the Ravens, Gaither will compete for a regular season roster spot.
He joins a former Paso Robles teammate, Josh Oliver, who played with Baltimore last year, catching nine passes for 66 yards as a tight end.
Oliver, who stands 6 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 249 pounds, played a season with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019.
Oliver also played at San Jose State, where he tallied 1,067 yards receiving and seven touchdowns during his college career.
