In his letter of Nov. 29, Mike Morgan claims that “War is peace” and “Americans are the most compassionate people” on earth (“To maintain peace, we need a strong military”).

Of course! That must be why Bush’s pre-emptive war over those WMDs has was such a righteous success. Do you think that General Eisenhower was not proud to fight for our country — or have you even heard of the Republican president who warned of the “military-industrial complex”? Do you believe that North Koreans are stupid enough to destroy themselves by being the first to pull the trigger?

The greatest threat to world peace is the country with more than enough nuclear power to destroy the planet, driven by the industrial profiteers, led by a tweeting draft-dodger who wonders why we have atomic bombs if we can’t use them, and who is supported by people who love the idea of a never-ending war on terror because, after all, war is peace.
