Avila Ranch would help SLO residents achieve their dream of owning a home
I am writing to encourage your readers to support the Avila Ranch project.
I have lived in the county for most of my life and love so many things about our area. Like so many others, I am stuck in a pattern of renting that makes it nearly impossible to call SLO my forever home. High rents make it difficult to save for a down payment, especially on a single person’s income in a city where the median home price is over $650,000.
I am lucky — I work for a great company, am treated well and am paid fairly. I participate on a local HR board, and I volunteer in my community. I lead a local hiking group, regularly introducing people to our beautiful trails.
In my humble opinion, I am exactly the kind of citizen that SLO should want to retain.
The Avila Ranch project would help make SLO my forever home. Affordable home prices and down payment assistance could make the dream a reality. Green spaces, bike trails and small home sizes fit perfectly with my lifestyle and bring benefits to our city as well.
I hope to be SLO’s newest “permanent” resident when this project breaks ground!
