This nickname for San Luis Obispo is far worse than ‘San Louie’

I can fully understand why Bob Anderson objects to our fair city being called SLO or San Louie (“We aren’t ‘San Louie,’ but we aren’t ‘SLO,’ either,” June 13).

But as I recall, during WWII the soldiers who were stationed in this area who had to go to Santa Barbara or all the way to Los Angeles to find a fun Liberty town always referred to our city as “San Louie Da Pissbowl.” So these newer nicknames aren’t as bad as he thinks.
