Marches showed the world who the United States is

On Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, in San Luis Obispo, over 7,000 — with estimates possibly up to 10,000 — people marched downtown in solidarity with women’s issues and as a protest against the Donald Trump administration.

The marches by millions earlier this month showed the world what America and its citizens are really about: a country that is concerned for, and seeks fairness for, all people, regardless of who they are.

Hopefully the message will get through to every corner of the world that a small, vocal band of rich, white egotists who are currently attempting to run our country does not represent the core values of most Americans. We are far better than that.

A.J. Buffa, San Luis Obispo
