A vision of healthy, local food for all in SLO County

I’d like to agree with Suzy Reynolds of Atascadero (“Excellent produce makes SLO County a great place,” Oct. 17) about the excellent quality of our produce.

Moreover, I would like to congratulate area farmers market associations and managers who are making the extra effort to ensure that this healthy and delicious food is in fact available to all in our county by accepting Electronic Benefits Transfer (or EBT) for Cal Fresh and vouchers for WIC clients.

Through these practices, we are working toward the vision of the San Luis Obispo County Food System Coalition — San Luis Obispo County has a thriving, sustainable and local food economy, and every resident has access to fresh, nutritious food without compromising the ability of the system to meet the needs of future generations.

We are fortunate in our county to have such high quality, healthy and delicious fresh food and, thanks to many farmers markets, it is being made available to us all.

Stephanie Teaford, San Luis Obispo
