Andy Pease is an advocate for smart, controlled growth in SLO
Allan Cooper’s letter of Nov. 2 (“Vujovich-La Barre, Clark respect SLO General Plan”) mischaracterizes the positions of Andy Pease, one of the candidates for San Luis Obispo City Council.
Pease is an advocate for controlled growth. She is concerned about the jobs/housing imbalance and believes a well-run city with a great quality of life will attract high-paying jobs. She is concerned about our long-term water supply and the ongoing impacts of climate change. She doesn’t believe a building moratorium is appropriate at this time but thinks we need to revise our water plan to focus on targeted conservation, on-site graywater use, low-impact development for groundwater recharge and recycling our wastewater.
Tuesday’s vote is critical for SLO. Will we follow the “no growth” advocates who would shut out young professionals and families in an effort to preserve our town as a relic of some bygone day? Or do we want leaders with a vision of how to help shape this community into an even better place for our children and grandchildren. Andy Pease has that vision.
Jim Woolf, San Luis Obispo
