Triple-digit temps are coming to SLO County this weekend. How hot will it get?

A short heat wave will slam into San Luis Obispo County on Friday — bringing with it potentially dangerous temperatures.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for parts of San Luis Obispo County on Thursday. The heat advisory will be in effect on Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. as temperatures could exceed 100 degrees, especially near Paso Robles, the Weather Service said.

The advisory applies to the Cuyama Valley and the San Luis Obispo County interior valleys and mountains, including the Carrizo Plain, Paso Robles, Atascadero, La Panza Range, San Miguel, Creston, Caliente Range, Lake Nacimiento, Templeton, New Cuyama, Santa Margarita Lake and Shandon.

“There is a high risk for heat illness for sensitive populations including the very young, the very old, those without air conditioning and those active outdoors,” the Weather Service said.

The Weather Service advised people to drink fluids, remain in air-conditioned rooms out of the sun, and check on vulnerable community members.

Those who work outside should wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and “limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening,” the Weather Service said.

What’s next in the weather forecast?

Paso Robles should expect a sunny Thursday with a high near 92 degrees, the Weather Service said.

In San Luis Obispo, the high will reach 81 degrees, while Pismo Beach can expect a high near 76 degrees.

The heat wave will arrive in full force on Friday, pushing the temperature to 101 degrees in Paso Robles.

More coastal areas can expect a slightly cooler Friday, with daytime highs near 87 degrees in San Luis Obispo and 76 degrees in Pismo Beach.

On Saturday, Paso Robles is forecast to have a high of 93 degrees, while San Luis Obispo will have a high of 80 degrees. Pismo Beach will be much cooler with a high of 74 degrees.

Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach are all forecast to experience patchy fog on Sunday morning, burning off to a high of 81 degrees in Paso Robles, 70 degrees in San Luis Obispo and 68 degrees in Pismo Beach.

The heat wave will be gone by Monday, when Paso Robles can expect a high of 71 degrees, San Luis Obispo a high near 65 degrees and Pismo Beach near 64 degrees.
