SLO County city broke a 74-year-old heat record today. Here’s how hot it got
Paso Robles broke a 74-year-old heat record on Monday as warm temperatures returned to the Central Coast.
According to the National Weather Service, Paso Robles was one of three locations in the Central Coast and Southern California to break their daily records.
In Paso Robles, it topped out at 86 degrees on Monday, breaking the previous daily record of 85 which was set in 1951.
Other broken records were for Woodland Hills, which reached 95 degrees, and Palmdale, which reached 84 degrees.
What’s next in forecast for SLO County?
The broken records come as much of the region sees “unseasonably warm weather” at the start of this week, according to the Weather Service.
More are not likely in the coming days, however, as temperatures are expected to return to a more seasonably normal range, the agency said.
According to the Weather Service’s weekly forecast, temperatures are expected to hit 88 degrees in Paso Robles on Tuesday before cooling to 64 degrees on Friday.
In San Luis Obispo, temperatures will fluctuate from a high of 78 degrees on Tuesday to 65 on Friday. Coastal temperatures will range from the low 60s to high 50s through that time span.
