Woman airlifted by CHP helicopter after crashing van down steep embankment off Hwy. 41
A California Highway Patrol helicopter transported a woman to the hospital after she drove her van off a steep side of Highway 41 Sunday morning.
The crash was first reported around 10:30 a.m., in Morro Bay according to emergency scanner Pulse Point.
The woman drove her van over the side of an embankment near Bear Ridge, according to Cal Fire assistant chief Tom Swanson.
Although the woman only suffered moderate injuries, a helicopter was the quickest way to rescue the woman rather than using a rope, according to Swanson.
The woman was alone in the van, according to Swanson. She suffered moderate injuries but was still hoisted by a CHP H-70 helicopter to a hospital in Paso Robles.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
