Freeze warning issued for parts of SLO County. How cold could it get?
San Luis Obispo County could be in for a freezing start to the holiday weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, a freeze warning is in effect from midnight Friday through 9 a.m. Saturday in San Luis Obispo County and other parts of the Central Coast.
San Luis Obispo County coastal and inland areas including San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Avila Beach, Lopez Lake, Nipomo, Arroyo Grande and Cambria could all experience sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 degrees overnight, according to the warning.
Frost and freeze conditions may kill crops and sensitive vegetation outdoors, and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing, according to the Weather Service.
Going into the weekend, daytime temperatures are expected to hit highs in the low 60s in San Luis Obispo and across North County on Saturday, while beaches will remain in the high 50s, according to the Weather Service’s forecast.
That cooler trend will continue until Tuesday when temperatures were expected to increase to the mid-to-high 60s, according to the Weather Service.
