SLO County launches new emergency notification system. Here’s how to sign up
A new emergency notification system is now up and running across San Luis Obispo County, according to the county’s Office of Emergency Services.
The agency launched AlertSLO on Wednesday as a new mass method to inform residents about events that could impact their everyday lives.
“With AlertSLO, we can quickly notify residents about important events like highway closures, weather warnings, or large planned power outages, allowing them to take necessary precautions,” County Emergency Services Manager Scott Jalbert said in a news release.
What notifications will AlertSLO send?
The system will send notifications regarding emergency action orders and warnings, as well alert residents to lower-level issues, according to AlertSLO’s website.
Here are the types of notifications users could receive:
- Severe weather
- Road closures
- Large power outages
- 911 outages
- Public health emergencies
How to sign up for new notification system
County residents can sign up for free AlertSLO notifications at AlertSLO.org.
You can register any electronic device, cell phone, pager or email address to receive messages from SLO County’s Office of Emergency Services.
Users can decide which type of notifications they want to receive, as well as which areas of the county they want to get alerts for, the news release said.
