Heat wave could bring triple-digit temps to SLO County this week. Here’s how hot it could get
San Luis Obispo County is expected to heat up this week, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.
Several parts of the county have been placed on an excessive heat watch, according to the agency.
“Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures of 90 to 110 possible,” the heat watch said. “Warm overnight low temperatures will bring little relief from the heat.”
The excessive heat watch begins Wednesday, but according to the forecast hot temperatures are expected to begin Tuesday with triple digits in northern San Luis Obispo County.
Paso Robles is expected to reach its peak on Thursday, with a predicted high of 108 degrees, while San Luis Obispo is expected to reach 90 degrees that same day.
The National Weather Service said unhoused people, elderly people, children and people with health issues are at the highest risk of heat illness during the heat wave. It advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioning, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors.
“Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles,” the agency said. “Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.”
