Freeze warning issued for parts of SLO County. Here’s where
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for parts of San Luis Obispo County on Sunday morning.
The warning is expected to be in effect from 1 to 8 a.m.
Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero and Lake Nacimiento could all see sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees, according to the NWS.
These frost and freeze conditions could threaten crops and other sensitive vegetation.
The NWS warned prolonged exposure to the cold weather can cause hypothermia in animals and people. The agency added that vehicle windshields will be frosted, so residents should plan for extra time to defrost windshields before driving.
The NWS also issued a high surf advisory for beaches across San Luis Obispo County effective through 1 p.m. Monday afternoon.
The advisory warned of dangerous rip currents and large breaking waves between eight and 11 feet.
Minor tidal overflow and coastal flooding could also occur during morning high tides, the advisory said.
People were advised to stay out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions and the potential for deadly rock jetties.
