1 person hospitalized, pets killed after fire engulfs trailer in SLO County

One person was in the hospital and multiple pets died after a travel trailer caught fire Friday morning, Templeton Fire and Emergency Services said in a news release.

The fire began around 7:40 a.m. at 988 Vineyard Drive, the agency said. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the 20-foot trailer was engulfed in flames parked next to a church.

One occupant of the trailer was burned and inhaled smoke, the release said. They were transported to Twin Cities Hospital for treatment and their condition was unknown as of Friday afternoon.

The $10,000 trailer was destroyed. According to a post on social media from the agency, multiple pets were killed.

Templeton Fire and Emergency Services led the response with help from Cal Fire, Atascadero Fire Department and Paso Robles Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
