The Arroyo Grande Creek breached its levee south of Oceano and flooded farm fields during some of the most intense rains that San Luis Obispo County has experienced in years.

Several properties were isolated, completely surrounded by floodwaters, when Tribune visual journalist David Middlecamp took video of the area on Tuesday. Click on the video above to see the flooding.

The Arroyo Grande Creek at the 22nd Street Bridge crested at 33.74 feet around 7 p.m. Monday— about 3 feet above flood stage. This prompted evacuations in nearby neighborhoods Monday.

On Tuesday afternoon, residents of the Pacific Dunes Ranch RV Resort were stranded in Oceano after the levee in Arroyo Grande Creek was breached, the county said via Twitter.

By 7 p.m. Tuesday, the creek had fallen to about 25.81 feet, below the 29-foot flood stage.

The National Weather Service’s 48-hour rainfall totals showed that Arroyo Grande received 7.05 inches as of Tuesday morning. It’s among the highest amounts in the county, along with Western Santa Margarita at 9.24 inches.
