‘Dangerously hot conditions’ could hit SLO County through Labor Day weekend
Start planning how you are going to keep cool this Labor Day weekend.
“Dangerously hot conditions” are expected to develop across San Luis Obispo County later this week as part of a multi-day heat wave forecast across California.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures could reach up to 110 degrees in parts of the county in the latter half of the week.
Temperatures on Sunday are expected to hit 108 degrees in Paso Robles and 91 in San Luis Obispo, according to a National Weather Service tweet.
In response to the hot weather, the service issued an excessive heat watch effective from Wednesday through Sunday evening.
The heat watch mostly impacts inland San Luis Obispo County; coastal areas are expected to stay cooler thanks to onshore winds, according to meteorologist John Lindsey.
Much of California is expected to be impacted by the heat wave, according to the National Weather Service. Regions from Sacramento to San Diego are all expected to see triple digits over the holiday weekend. (edited)
The Weather Service warned that extreme heat significantly increases the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those “working or participating in outdoor activities.”
The service advised people to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room or out of the sun and to check up on relatives and neighbors.
