This SLO County city broke a heat record today — and it could do so again this weekend
One San Luis Obispo County city broke a more than 30-year-old heat record on Friday — and it could do it again this weekend.
PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey said Paso Robles hit 106 degrees Fahrenheit on Friday, breaking the old record of 105 degrees set in 1991.
This comes as a heat wave presses down on much of California, bringing with it triple-digit temperatures. Earlier in the week, the National Weather Service issued a excessive heat watch for a huge swath of California, including northern San Luis Obispo County.
On Friday, that watch was upgraded to an excessive heat warning. It is expected to be in effect through Saturday evening.
Lindsey said the heat isn’t over just yet, either.
Paso Robles could hit 105 degrees on Saturday, which would smash the previous record of 103 set in 2019.
No other SLO County cities broke heat records on Friday, he added.
