Wind gusts expected to reach 40 mph in SLO County, National Weather Service says

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Wednesday for parts of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.

The agency warned that gusty winds could make driving difficult, particularly for tall vehicles.

Northwest winds will blow at 15 to 30 mph and gusts are expected to reach 40 mph, according to the NWS advisory.

The wind advisory is in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The wind warning impacts SLO County beaches and inland communities including as Arroyo Grande, Avila Beach, Cambria, Morro Bay, Pismo Beach, Nipomo and San Luis Obispo.

In Santa Barbara County, Buellton, Lompoc, Lopez Lake, Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc and Santa Maria may be impacted by the winds, the NWS said.

“Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle,” the advisory said.

The National Weather Service advises securing unsecured outdoor objects during the windy period.
