Roadwork could cause delays on 3 SLO County highways this month. Here’s where and when

Roadwork could cause overnight delays on three San Luis Obispo County highways this month.

According to a Caltrans news release, a number of construction projects are slated for local roads through May — namely on Highways 227, 41 and 1 — but the majority of the work will take place in the late hours to minimize traffic impacts.

First up, workers will install centerline and edge line rumble strips along Highway 227 between Patchett and Buckley roads starting Wednesday evening and continuing Thursday night. They also planned to re-stripe the road on Wednesday, according to the release.

Drivers through that area should expect to encounter one-way reversing traffic control between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on those days.

Then from May 22 to May 26, a similar project will take place on Highway 41 from Morro Bay to Portola Road near Atascadero, according to the release. That work is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Finally, Highway 1 from north of Hearst Castle to Torre Canyon Road is scheduled to be re-striped beginning May 22. That overnight work will conclude May 25, according to the release.

Highway 1 will remain fully open during that time, Caltrans said.

According to the release, delays should not exceed 10 minutes on any of the above projects; message signs will be posted in the areas as well to warn travelers of the impending construction.

Together, the projects cost an estimated $1.5 million, and are being conducted by Cal Stripe Inc. of Colton.
