More than an inch of rain fell in one SLO County spot. See how much your neighborhood got
Earth Day 2022 kicked off with a much-needed storm in San Luis Obispo County, where most communities received anywhere from a modest 0.25 inches to 0.75 inches of rain, along with one outlier that received more than an inch.
The most rain was recorded at a home in the Asuncion Ranch Estates in Atascadero, where 1.02 inches of rain fell in the last 24 hours, according to PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey.
Scattered rain showers were expected to continue through late morning Friday, with most of the rainy weather tapering off by mid-afternoon as strong gale-force winds move in, Lindsey said.
Gusts could be as high as 20 miles per hour Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
While the temperatures for Friday weren’t expected to pass the mid-60s, warmer weather is expected inland over the weekend, Lindsey said.
Foggy mornings but otherwise clear skies are expected starting Saturday through Monday as a high-pressure system moves through Central California, according to Lindsey’s forecast.
These conditions should create higher temperatures inland, with Paso Robles reaching the low 80s and San Luis Obispo and coastal valleys hitting the mid- to high 70s over the weekend.
The beaches will be a little chillier, with temperatures in the 60s, Lindsey said.
