A whiplash weather pattern will develop, as mild and sunny conditions this weekend transition to cool and wet weather on Tuesday, followed by warmer and sunny skies on Wednesday through Friday.

A pattern of moderate to fresh (13 to 24 mph) Santa Lucia winds developing during the night and morning, shifting out of the northwest, and increasing to fresh to strong (19 to 31 mph) levels during the afternoon will continue through Sunday as high pressure builds over California.

Mainly clear to partly skies with 70-degree temperatures developing in the inland and coastal valleys and 60s along the beaches is forecast on Sunday.

Monday will be a transitional day. It will start with fresh to strong (19 to 31 mph) Santa Lucia (northeasterly) winds and mostly clear skies in the morning. However, mid to high-level level clouds will increase later in the day, and the winds will decrease and shift out of the south as a 998 millibar low-pressure system approaches from the west.

At this time, the ECMWF model indicates that fresh to strong (19 to 31 mph) southerly winds and between 0.25 and 1 inch of rain will fall throughout the Central Coast on Tuesday. However, Saturday morning’s GFS model run only shows about 0.10 of an inch of rain.

Dry and warmer weather will develop throughout the Central Coast on Wednesday through next week as high pressure builds over California and gusty Santa Lucia (northeasterly) winds develop.
