SLO County weather forecast for the week of July 12: Hot inland temperatures, cool beaches
After a hot Sunday in the inland areas, a no-sky July and warmer seawater temperatures are expected along the coastline this week as gentle to moderate southerly winds develop Tuesday night and continue through Saturday. Away from the shoreline, seasonal temperatures are expected.
High pressure from the desert Southwest this weekend and will produce hot inland temperatures with Paso Robles reaching to triple-digit levels. In fact, Paso Robles will hit 105 degrees on Sunday.
The coastal valleys, including San Luis Obispo, will reach the low to mid-80s, while the beaches will remain in the 60s over this time frame.
A cooling trend along with a deepening marine layer will start Monday as the dome of high pressure responsible for the hot inland temperatures retreats to the Four Corners area.
A trough of low pressure is expected to develop along the California Coast later Tuesday into Saturday.
This condition is expected to produce gentle to moderate (8 to 18 mph) southerly winds, seasonal temperatures, and persistent marine low clouds with areas of mist and fog along the coast.
It may also bring subtropical moisture from former tropical cyclone Cristina over the Central Coast for variable high-level clouds and higher relative humidity levels on Wednesday and Thursday.

PG&E safety tips
Here are some PG&E safety tips to follow when around water:
▪ Obey all warning signs and restrictive buoys when you swim or boat.
▪ Wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket in and around water at all times.
▪ Use the buddy system; that is, never fish, swim, boat or raft alone.
▪ Don’t dive or jump into unfamiliar or shallow water. Submerged trees or rocks can cause serious injury.
▪ Avoid sudden immersion in cold water. This action can stimulate the gasp reflex and cause an involuntary inhalation of air or water.
▪ Actively supervise children around water. Give them your undivided attention.
