SLO weather forecast for the week of Jan. 27: Two weeks of dry conditions may be ahead

February is right around the corner, but if current models prove true, San Luis Obispo County may not see rain till the middle of the month.

A pattern of fresh to strong (19 to 31 mph) northwesterly winds developing over the weekend will shift out of the northeast and decrease to moderate to fresh (13 to 24 mph) levels, continuing through the week.

This condition will produce dry and mostly clear skies with areas of marine low clouds during the late afternoon and evening along the coastline and dense ground fog in the inland valleys during the overnight and early morning.

The dry weather with above normal temperatures could hold into the second week of February as a ridge of high pressure builds over the Central Coast.

Surf report

A 5- to 7-foot northwesterly (295-degree, deep-water) sea and swell (with a 5- to 21 second period) is forecast along our coastline for the weekend will build to 9 to 11 feet (with a 5- to 17-second period) on Monday.

This northwesterly (295-degree, deep-water) sea and swell will decrease to 8 to 10 feet (with a 5- to 15-second period) on Tuesday into Wednesday.

A higher-energy northwesterly swell is forecast to arrive along our coastline on Jan. 30 into Feb. 2.

Seawater temperatures will range from 53 to 55 degrees through Friday.
