A Christmas Day storm brought rain to SLO County. See how much fell in your area
Christmas Day brought heavy rain and gusty winds to the Central Coast, but no snow fell in San Luis Obispo County.
With snow levels dropped to 2,000 to 3,000 feet, the storm dumped heavy snowflakes in the Tehachapi Range, leading to major road closures, including Interstate 5 at the Grapevine. Drivers were diverted to Highway 101, snarling local traffic.
Looking forward, the Central Coast can expect cool temperatures, moderate to gusty winds and partly cloudy skies through Friday, according to PG&E meteorologist John Lindsey. Low clouds and fog is expected in the wind-sheltered valleys at night.
There’s a slight chance of rain showers Monday from a low-pressure system, with dry weather expected into the first week of 2020, Lindsey said.
