Elections

Poll: What should SLO County candidates talk about in the March 2020 election?

The Tribune is changing how we cover local elections, candidates and campaigns — and putting you in the driver’s seat.

Your issues, concerns and priorities will drive our stories in the lead up to the March 2020 election in San Luis Obispo County.

What do you want candidates to talk about as they compete for your vote? What are your hopes and fears for the future of your community and the county as a whole? What do you look for in a local elected official?

Let us know by filling out the survey below.

Your input will help shape our reporting, and drive the public conversation about the future of our region in the next few months.

Why are we doing this?

It’s a big election, three of five seats are up for grabs on the county Board of Supervisors, two in the North County and one in the South County.

Then in November, you’ll be voting for new city councils, school boards, community service district members and state representatives — and possibly, new taxes.

Those elected officials will make decisions that directly affect your life.

They’ll decide how to spend your tax dollars; where to build new housing; how to attract new employers and support existing local businesses, where to build new parks, what to do about homelessness, and how to regulate water use and plan for a sustainable future.

People like you — residents, workers and taxpayers — should drive the conversation, and we look forward to hearing what concerns you this election year.
