Burger King is testing a french fry sandwich. Wendy’s couldn’t resist throwing shade

Burger King is testing a french fry sandwich in New Zealand called the Chip Butty, Eater reported.

What, exactly, is a french fry sandwich? It’s just what it sounds like: french fries, mayonnaise and ketchup on a hamburger bun with no meat whatsoever, according to Burger King’s website.

Maybe you’ve been making these your whole life, like several Twitter users.

“Welcome to the 21st century @BurgerKing, Brits have been eating chip butties for decades,” one user wrote.

“Our chiproll is going global,” wrote another.

Or maybe you’re a little, well... confused, like these commenters:

“Please tell me this is a joke,” one user wrote.

“What is this meant to even be?” wrote another.

But Wendy’s had a different take on Burger King’s new Chip Butty, sharing a Twitter post about the sandwich and roasting BK with the caption: “When literally anything would be better on a bun than their beef.”

Predictably, the internet loved it. The tweet has been liked more than 60,000 times and shared more than 6,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.

“I will never regret following Wendy’s twitter account,” one user wrote.

“Whoever runs this account has the best job in the fast food industry,” wrote another.

“I love you, whoever you are,” wrote a third.
