1 arrested, 19 citations issued amid St. Fratty’s partying in SLO

San Luis Obispo Police issued more than a dozen citations and arrested one person as St. Fratty’s Day festivities got underway this weekend.

According to a Saturday news release, police issued 19 citations for “various nuisance order violations” between midnight Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.

Meanwhile, officers made one arrest after an assault in downtown SLO, the release said.

The violations came as St. Fratty’s Day weekend kicked off with an early morning music festival hosted on Cal Poly’s campus, drawing 11,000 attendees at its peak. The concert was designed in 2025 as an alternative to the raucous street parties of previous years.

A safety enhancement zone was in place this weekend, doubling fines for noise, unruly gatherings, open containers and public urination.

Students began being let into the second annual Morning on the Green music festival around 4:30 a.m. on March 14, 2026. The music festival is an attempt to curb St. Fratty’s Day street partying in the neighborhoods near Cal Poly.
