Around 11,000 students turned out to dance and party at Cal Poly’s second annual Morning on the Green music festival Saturday morning.

The festivities kicked off early — by 4 a.m., students eager to hear EDM artist Odd Mob and duo Walker and Royce perform onstage began gathering at the university’s sports complex.

Once gates opened around 4:30 a.m., a large crowd of green amassed on the field, with students already frolicking and dancing to blow off steam the weekend before finals week.

It was estimated that around 11,000 students made it to the concert, according to Cal Poly spokesperson Matt Lazier. The university made 14,000 tickets available.

Freshman business administration major Skylar Ruggiero said she was excited to experience her first St. Fratty’s Day — something she said Cal Poly is known for.

“It’s cool that they put this on because it kind of, like, makes something for all Cal Poly students to get together,” she said.

Meanwhile, in the residential streets that hosted past St. Fratty’s Day street parties, law enforcement said it remained quiet with only a few noise citations issued as of Saturday morning.
