Cal Poly’s annual poinsettia sale returns. Find out when and what to expect
The Cal Poly poinsettia sale is back.
Starting Saturday, San Luis Obispo County residents can ring in the holiday season at the Poly Plant Shop, where a variety of poinsettias will be for sale.
Saturday’s sale will feature a limited supply of colors, while a second sale on Dec. 7 will feature additional options.
The shop will be open on the two Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This year’s poinsettia crop includes a variety of colors and sizes, with pots ranging from 4 to 10 inches. Prices range from $10 to $50.
Thousands of the holiday plants in a variety of colors are cultivated annually by horticulture students at Cal Poly, including senior plant sciences major Sabrina Correa.
“This practical engagement has deepened my understanding of the complexities of greenhouse management, from controlling environmental factors to ensuring plant health and quality,” Correa said in a news release. “Beyond the technical expertise, this has positively impacted my confidence and reinforces my passion for my field.”
Other student-made products, like Cal Poly olive oil, jams, honey and chocolate will also be available for purchase at the poinsettia sale.
